The quick answer

Open the Raindance AI video generator, choose a solo or duet template, select Head swap or Whole person, and upload one or two photos. For the recommended Official Raindance video, choose a 3–10 second moment first. Sign in, use one video credit, then preview and download your result.

Start with the Raindance AI generator →

What you need before you start

  • One photo for a solo performance, or two separate photos for a duet.
  • JPG, PNG, or WebP files, no larger than 10 MB each.
  • A clear head photo for Head swap, or a full-body photo for Whole person.
  • A Raindance AI account and one video credit when you are ready to generate.

Use photos with permission. You do not need to film a performance or write a video prompt. If you are new to the format, read what the Raindance AI trend is before choosing your scene.

1. Choose a video template or an official clip

Watch the template previews and choose the scene and performance you want. Each template shows whether it needs one photo for a solo or two photos for a duet.

For the recommended Official Raindance video

Choose a start time with the slider, then set Clip length to 3–10 seconds. The default is 10 seconds starting at 0:51, ending at 1:01. The End time updates automatically. Play the preview to check your moment: it stops at the selected end, and pressing play again replays the selection from its start.

Choose a moment where the people you want to replace are visible. The generator prepares the selected MP4 segment as the reference for your edit. The official option currently requires two performer photos. Official clips use landscape 16:9 with side padding to preserve the complete source frame.

For every other template

Golden-Hour Pier, Rain on the Pier, Reception Duet, and the other ready-made templates use their fixed performance. These templates do not have a clip selector and use portrait 9:16.

2. Choose Head swap or Whole person

Your replacement mode determines which photo works best and which parts of the performer the AI should change.

Comparison of Raindance AI replacement modes and photo requirements
ModeWhat it usesBest photo
Head swapYour face and hairstyle, with the template body and outfitClear front-facing photo showing your full head and hair
Whole personYour appearance, body, and clothingClear full-body photo with your face visible

Both modes follow the reference performance. AI editing can change details; exact likeness, clothing, and scene preservation are not guaranteed.

3. Upload your photos and check the roles

Use one person per photo with a clearly visible face. Avoid sunglasses, heavy shadows, motion blur, and anything covering the face. For Head swap, include the whole hairstyle rather than cropping tightly around the eyes and mouth. For Whole person, include the outfit and body you want the edit to use.

For a duet, upload each photo to its labeled performer slot. Check the template preview and the Male role and Female role labels before continuing. These labels identify the original video characters, not the gender of your photos. Photo 1 replaces the male role and photo 2 replaces the female role, even when they change screen positions. Photos undergo an image safety check before generation.

4. Sign in, generate, and download your video

Sign in with Google or email. Review your template, replacement mode, and photos. For an official clip, also check Start, End, and Clip length. If you do not have credits, buy a pack before generating; if you do, start generation with one video credit.

The page tracks progress while the AI works. For an official selection, it first prepares and uploads your chosen clip. When the result is ready, preview it and download the MP4. Keep the downloaded file if you plan to edit the opening or add music before posting.

Post your Raindance video on TikTok or Reels

Upload your downloaded video to TikTok or Instagram Reels. To use the official Raindance track, select it in the platform's sound library and align it with your clip. If your exported video already contains audio, adjust its volume so the two tracks do not overlap.

For a photo-to-performance reveal, add your original photo at the beginning in a video editor, then cut into the generated clip on the beat. Follow the platform's AI-content labeling requirements when you publish. Raindance AI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the artists, their labels, TikTok, or Instagram.

Questions about making a Raindance AI video

Do I need one photo or two?

Solo templates need one photo. Duet templates, including the recommended Official Raindance video, need two separate photos, one for each performer. Follow the role labels in the generator.

Can I choose the start and end of any template?

Only the Official Raindance video supports clip selection. Choose a start time and a length from 3 to 10 seconds; the end time is calculated for you. The default length is 10 seconds. All other templates use their fixed performance.

Does Head swap change my hairstyle too?

Head swap uses your face and hairstyle while aiming to retain the template body and outfit. Show your entire head in the reference photo. Whole person also uses your appearance and clothing. AI edits may change details, and exact likeness is not guaranteed.

Can I make a Raindance AI video for free?

Raindance AI currently requires paid video credits to generate. You can watch template previews before buying. There is no subscription; one generation uses one video credit.

Will my video have the Raindance song?

The editing request is configured to keep the selected reference video's original sound. To use the official Raindance track when posting, choose the sound inside TikTok or Instagram Reels. Audio availability may differ by platform, region, and account.

What if generation fails?

Failed generation tasks automatically return the video credit. If generation completes but the result needs attention, contact support. A finished AI edit can vary in likeness, clothing, and scene details.
